Be ready to take on the colorful and exotic flavors of Israeli cuisine. Opened in 2008, Zahav offers diners modern Israeli Cuisine by award-winning chef Michael Solomonov, bringing the flavors of Israel to Philadelphia.The menu offers laffa, mezze, and grilled meats and vegetables.
There could probably be an entire page devoted to award-winning press about the place, but we'll give the highlights for now. Chef Solomonov was given the 2011 James Beard Award for "Best Chef, Mid-Atlantic," the 2016 James Beard Award for "International Cooking," and 2017's James Beard Award winner for "Outstanding Chef." All that to say, expect some pretty amazing food.
Step out of your comfort zone to try some of Zahav's eclectic dishes. Zahav offers diners a small plates menu that allows them to sample the different cultural influences on the cuisine of Israel. Mezze platters include dishes such as fried cauliflower, grilled zucchini, and haloumi cheese. The grilled main course food ranges from Romanian Beef Kebab, Eggplant and Branzino. It even offers boutique Israeli wine! After so many awards, its no surprise that the restaurant requires substantial booking time. By now I'm sure you guessed it, it's worth the wait.
