What could be more intriguing than a cafe that celebrates a counterculture 19th-century Irish playwright? In the words of Oscar Wilde, “keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead.” The owners of Wilde Cafe and Spirits, formerly Wilde Roast Cafe, have held true to the playwright’s aesthetic energy of grandeur, romance, and poetry. Their cafe represents a feast of creativity and love.
Once inside Wilde Cafe and Spirits, life breathes mystery. The Victorian-inspired decor includes peacock feathers, golden-hued lighting, and velvet chairs. Friends gather with a latte or a glass of wine on the Chesterfield couch near the 19th-century fireplace, perhaps discussing the latest theatrical performance seen, or dissecting a controversial philosophical idea in true Wilde style.
The Wilde Cafe and Spirits is best known locally for its Happy Hour menu. On Sunday through Friday between the hours of 4pm and 6pm, all appetizers are half priced, beer and wine is only $2, and any well drinks are $3. After 6pm, customers enjoy daily specials including a Tuesday and Wednesday Date Night discount on a bottle of wine when purchased with two menu items. Wilde would love to know that his namesake is keeping romance alive.
