The joy of the arcade

Remember Mario Bros, TMNT, Punch Out? Remember Mortal Kombat, The Simpsons and Duck Hunt? They are all there! The Tokens are only 25 cents, and each game is one token. Emporium has 24 beers on tap, mostly midwestern brews, and has selected about 50 Whiskey to loosen you up as you hit those vintage buttons from machines that were made 20-30 years ago. And if you want, you can take a break and go dance or listen to some great DJs scratching their way in and out of a mix of tunes.

Mounted Masterpieces

It’s not all games though. The murals on the wall are works of art in their own right. Self-taught artist Tyrue “Slang” Jones created these masterpieces. Roger Gastman, author of “The History Of American Graffiti” says….

“Slang single handedly defines the Chicago graffiti movement. For 30 years he’s been a nonstop force pushing the limits of his art and teaching the history of the culture that he helped to create.”

This mural of a futuristic Chicago skyline encased in a pinball machine with Donkey Kong and Wario running amok took him only 17 hours to make!
