Veza Sur was created by industry behemoth InBev as a brewery that emphasized Latin-American ingredients and culture. They hired Asbjorn Gerlach, the creator of the Kross Brewery in Chile as the brewmaster, and Veza Sur was off and running. Take a look at this cool promo video for Veza Sur and get a feel for the laid back Latin-American vibe at the brewery...
Like so many of the breweries popping up in Miami, Veza Sur is in the heart of the artistic and funky Wynwood neighborhood. The Brewery is large in comparison to its neighbors with a 10,000-square-foot space on a 15-barrel system and serving 18 types of beer. Sours are all the rage right now and Veza Sur has multiple on tap but the local favorite is the Lulo Sour. The Lulo Sour is a refreshing sour that surprises with a boost of fruity aromas. It starts fruity-sweet and then turns into a slightly tart and sour finish. If you are in the mood for something darker there is always the house favorite Chopp Dark Lager, a fresh and full-bodied Brazilian tradition served ice cold with two fingers of thick, velvety foam for you to drink through.
Veza Sur is not just about the beer though, the food is every bit as inspired as the libations. The food truck called Chifa offers up delicious Peruvian Street food that pares perfectly with the beers here. Try the Camarones anticuchos, shrimp with oyster sauce pickled pineapple and lime zest served on a bed of charred corn and queso fresco. Miami is a place where a mix of cultures has melded to form something all its own. So swing by Veza Sur and drink to the enjoyment and success of cultural fusions.
