Since 2004 the USS Midway, the US Navy’s longest-serving aircraft carrier, has been moored at Navy Pier in San Diego where it serves as a museum. Although it is one of San Diego’s newer museums, it already rivals the zoo as one of the city’s most popular attractions, and it's the most popular naval ship museum in the US. With more than 30 restored aircraft and nearly 10 acres of exhibits and displays, the Midway brings you the most complete cross-section of carrier aviation in the world. From high up on the bridge down to the main engine room, this museum takes you on a unique warship journey that engages the sights, sounds, and aromas of this symbol of American freedom.
The USS Midway has more than 30 restored aircraft and helicopters displayed on its Hangar and Flight Decks. They span decades from the Battle of Midway in 1942, the Korean and Vietnam Wars, to today’s tactical aircraft. Carefully restored, each one represents an aspect of the USS Midway’s long career.
