There are a lot of coffee shops in Charlotte, but Undercurrent Coffee is truly something special. Owners Todd and Erin Huber are dedicated to creating an environment that fosters a sense of belonging and gives back to the community. All of Undercurrent's coffee is sustainably sourced from Onyx Coffee Lab in the Ozarks. Their teas are curated by SPIRIT, and pastries are baked fresh every day in-house. Quiche, avocado toast, and yogurt bowls are crowd favorites.
Undercurrent Coffee occupies a modern space in the Plaza Midwood area. Bar, lounge, and table seating is available, making it a great space to convene with friends or get some work done while refueling on delicious espresso. Service is speedy but not careless. Baristas are happy to make suggestions and answer questions. Undercurrent's newest location in Optimist Hall is quickly gaining in popularity, offering the same fresh menu items that regulars love at the Plaza Midwood location.
In an effort to give back to the community, Undercurrent Coffee built The Lab, which offers public classes, tastings, professional workshops, and SCA certifications for those interested in learning more about the craft of brewing and sharpening their skills. Courses are available for varying levels of interest and expertise throughout the year.
