“The Insider's Guide” Of Where To Go And What To Do In Chicago

This is a big kid toy store for adults who are still kids on the inside. Toy de Jour is a vintage, antique shop that specializes in toys, games, and action figures. Inside, you will find those items you begged your parents for as a kid but have been forgotten in your mom’s attic.

You will get lost looking up and down the shelves for hours admiring the vintage G.I. Joes’, original He-Man and Skeletor action figures from 1987, or the infamous Cabbage Patch Doll. The long-married couple, Sam and Liz, have always had a passion for vintage toys and have been collecting since they were in high school together. Their massive encyclopedic knowledge comes in handy when trying to help customers who are looking for a specific item. They specialize in '80s and '90s toys but you will still find other decades as well. On the rare occasion that Toy de Jour doesn’t have exactly what you’re looking for, they will take your information and let you know where to find it. They are that dedicated to long-lost toys.

Like most antique or vintage stores, Toy de Jour's products come from buying collections that people bring in, but given not only their vast amount of toys but also their quality and sometimes mint condition, you’ll swear that there’s a functional time machine involved. Toy de Jour also hosts events to showcase specific collections or themes such as Kenner toys or Star Wars art show. Every one of their events is free to attend and food and drinks will be provided but you can also bring your own.
