For over half a century, Tony's St. Louis has been a local staple and considered one of the city's greatest fine-dining restaurants. There are many secrets to Tony's vast success outside of their mouth-watering dishes including stellar, personal service required by each server as well as the warm and tranquil atmosphere of the restaurant. The dining areas are complete with a warm and welcoming design, as well as extensive attention to the acoustics. The owner strived to ensure that guests can engage in a private conversation without shouting. The only dishes in the dining area are those found on the tables to reduce unnecessary sounds and kept behind soundproof walls until needed.
A specially engineered ceiling was designed with acoustics in mind and the servers are trained to gently remove dishes to avoid loud noise. They also use silent signaling to communicate with one another as well as bus staff to sustain the ultimate, relaxing environment for guests. Complementing the serene restaurant atmosphere is their top-notch menu made with fresh ingredients, such as the steaks, which are made from prime, corn-fed beef. The chefs start simmering their homemade sauces at 6 am and fresh fish is flown in several times a week from the Atlantic to ensure the best taste.
Since they opened, the meatballs have been a signature dish at Tony's. Stop in for a taste of the original recipe. A few other Primi course items include fettuccini with duck confit and wild mushrooms as well as their penne, asparagus and wild mushrooms entree. They also offer a tasting menu for two complete with dishes such as penne with lobster and shrimp, tenderloin of beef, foie gras, and the dessert of the day. Be sure to save room as over half of their diners order dessert such as Tony’s house-made banana ice cream or irresistible ice cream pie.
