As a rule, most restaurants that try to make more than one cuisine are to be looked on with suspicion. Tiger and Lily is the exception to that rule. By specializing in noodles and "things in bowls," this trendy restaurant is able to introduce diners to flavors they might not otherwise encounter in an approachable way. Oh, yeah, and they also make crepe cakes. So that doesn't suck.
Named the best new restaurant of 2017 by Columbus Monthly, two years later Tiger and Lily is still going strong. You should definitely come by for lunch to try the Szechuan mala turkey ramen (it's got Szechuan peppercorns that will numb your tongue!) or bring a vegan friend to try the grilled jackfruit salad, but it looks like the pros visit Tiger and Lily for weekend brunch.
Why? Well, it's simple. This is one of a select few restaurants in the Columbus area serving Chinese-style breakfast food. And to be clear: that is a very, very good thing. Hong Kong-style bubble waffles with fun flavors like matcha green tea are just the tip of the iceberg here. If it happens to be raining, nothing will lift your spirits like a bowl of hot congee, or rice porridge. Are you not feeling porridge? Channel generations of street vendors and start your day with a crunchy, eggy, sweet, and spicy bing, or rice flour crepe. Basically, at Tiger and Lily, it's hard to go wrong.
