If you're in Kansas City and looking for something a bit more upscale than your typical restaurant, check out The Restaurant at 1900. Inside this immaculately constructed modernist building, you'll find a wide array of dishes made by award-winning chef Linda Duerr.
Each meal is made with fresh ingredients based on what is available seasonally and changes depending on the time of year, ensuring a different experience each time you visit as well as the highest quality possible. This video shows the process and evolution of the menu at The Restaurant at 1900.
The highlight, and one of the best sandwiches in the city, is the Maine Lobster Salad Roll, a sandwich made from lobster with lemon aioli, with mayo on a homemade brioche roll. It's also served with the salad of the day which, like every meal served, consists of ingredients that are in season to ensure the highest quality. The Maine Lobster Salad Roll is one of the more expensive meals on this list, but with the creativity involved and the quality ingredients, it's worth it.
Aside from the Maine Lobster Roll, The Restaurant at 1900 has a number of other options that may be of interest to you. Starter plates, such as Yucca Fries and Ibis Breads, will whet your appetite, and the drink selection contains top-quality beer, wine, and spirits from all over the world as well as house-made soft drinks. Reservations are required in advance and can be made online.
