The Pedestrian Bridge is an element of the project that didn't exist in the original brief. The design team believed it was important to help people travel across Grierson Road, to get closer to the river, without impeding traffic. They wanted the pedestrian bridge to become more than just a piece of infrastructure, and instead, become a place that people can gather. This justified the seating on the East side of the bridge. At the end of the bridge is the elevator, which is the second mechanized portion of the project.
