The Menil Collection is a museum of art located within a 30-acre art neighborhood in Houston. Two of the buildings that are home to this collection are solely dedicated to artists, Cy Twombly & Dan Flavin, while the others provide collections from a variety of artists. Between the building itself and the art collections, you will find plenty of fantastic photo opportunities. The Drawing Institute Building is filled with countless colorful areas that are Instagram worthy. The minimalist art, as well as the detailed sculptures, make for great Instagram posts. Even the way that the art is aligned along the walls is sure to catch your eye.
The main hallway is lined with multi-color lights and is perhaps one of the most Instagrammable spots within the whole museum. The different colors allow you to set up to get the perfect photo or selfie, that you are looking for! One of the main goals of The Menil Collection is to make art accessible to the public and for this reason, the museum does not charge admission fees for their museum or any of their public programs. The programs offered at Menil are aimed at educating and inspiring audiences with artwork as well as with the artists. This particular museum does not aim to have a comprehensive collection from various sections of the art world. The Menil works to have large and complete collections by specific artists. This is yet another part about this museum that makes it so unique and interesting to visit.
