Choose Chicago

Choose Chicago® is the official destination marketing organization for Chicago, Illinois. When you’re in Chicago, you’re home. With the countless experiences there are to have here, you're absolutely welcome to do any and all of them.

Step into the Gilt Bar and ask to be shown to the Library. A waitress with a sly smile will lead you toward the bathrooms and then take a sudden turn down a flight of narrow steps. At the end of the stairs, you will find yourself at the end of a long hall. On the walls of this hall are posted the strip photos of everyone who has visited the Library.

The Library looks like a room owned by a British big game hunter in the 1920's. The shelves are furnished with perpetually dusty books and vials of sinister looking liquid that might just be snake oil. The gilded bar is strewn with bric-a-bac items that look like they were pulled from the Great Gatsby and the cash register is an absolute relic.

The Library is a modern day Chicago speakeasy. With an assortment of fancy cocktails and classy food, it's the perfect hidden Chicago spot to stop in for a martini.
