Located in the South Slope of Asheville, the Funkatorium by Wicked Weed Brewing is the East Coast’s first sour beer dedicated taproom. With a variety of sours to choose from, each guest can find an old world brew to enjoy while eating Roman-style pizza and other creative pub fares with occasional live music. If you're looking for a brewery with a wood-heavy, old-world pub feel, with an outdoor Biergarten to enjoy your sour in, the Funkatorium is the perfect brewhouse for you to visit while in Asheville.
Known for their sours, the Funkatorium is pouring out plenty of beers of this variety that each have fruits, tea, peppers, nuts, coffee, and even turmeric, infused in them. Sour selections like Silencio (Bourbon Barrel-Aged Black Sour Ale with Coffee and Vanilla), Pompoen (Rum Barrel-Aged Sour Pumpkin Ale with Ginger), and Terra Merita (Barrel-Aged American Sour Ale Fermented with Apricot and Turmeric) are noteworthy but only scratch the surface of what the Funkatorium has to offer.
