If you want to taste food made from the freshest possible ingredients, you shouldn't pass up on visiting The Farmhouse. There are many options worth trying, though the highlight is their Rueben. It's a pretty standard Reuben, consisting of Corned Beef, Sauerkraut, 1000 Island Dressing, Swiss cheese, and Marble Rye. However, with everything coming from local farms, it's one of the freshest and tastiest Reubens you'll find in Kansas City. In addition to the Reuben, you can find all sorts of creative sandwich concoctions here. Some fan favorites include the fried chicken sandwich, skirt steak sandwich, and chicken-fried steak sandwich.
The phrase “Farm to Table” has become a bit of a buzzword in recent years. Cutting out the middleman and sourcing your food directly from the people who grow it is an ideal worth striving for, both for quality and environmental reasons. The Farmhouse chefs source as many ingredients as possible from Missouri and Kansas farmers. This isn’t an empty promise either, as they list the specific farms they work with on their website. Everything from cuts of meat to bacon and broths, even their ketchup, is made from ingredients from these farms, using as many parts of the animals and vegetables they buy as possible to minimize waste.
They offer vegetarian and vegan options and many dishes can be modified to make them vegan if requested. Reservations aren't required to eat at The Farmhouse but are highly recommended to avoid wait times. If you have a party of 10 or more, you'll have to make special arrangements to ensure the highest quality service.
