Owners Miguel and Lee Corrina Cano met in design school, so it's not surprising that the interior of The Coffee Studio was named one of the most Instagrammable coffee shops in Chicago. Sleek lines, mid-century modern furnishings and fixtures, exposed brick walls and terrariums on every table make it incredibly visually appealing. But what really sets this place apart is their dedication to hand-crafting the items on their surprisingly varied menu.
Of course the coffee is exceptional. The pair not only studied the art of espresso for two years before opening The Coffee Studio, but their syrups are made in house and beans are locally roasted and fairly sourced. Their most famous espresso drink is the Carmellatte, featuring house-made caramel sauce and whipped cream. Other ways get a caffeine fix here? Pour over coffees, loose leaf teas, and even coffee and tea cocktails. (Hey, it's five o'clock somewhere.)
As for food items, they're just as carefully curated and prepared as the drinks. There's a range of flatbreads (everyone raves about the salmon one), homemade schmears for the bagels, small-batch ice cream prepared in-house for the ice cream sandwiches, ice tea pops, and delicious pastries. Not feeling coffee at the moment? Have a craft beer instead. Add to all that free wifi and it's no wonder that along with numerous local accolades, Bon Appetit named The Coffee Studio one of the top ten boutique coffee shops in the country.
