If you love art, the Barrymore Hotel is the first place you should check out in Tampa. The hotel is located in the Downtown River Arts District, directly next to the Straz Center for the Performing Arts. Outside the hotel is a sculpture piece called “Rebirth,” by local artist Clayton Swartz. The easily recognizable landmark features a butterfly and a heart.
The Barrymore Hotel completely embraces the local art scene. Glass and iron art deco pieces from Rustic Steel Creations decorate the lobby. Rustic Steel Creations produces custom metal fabrications such as steel furniture and bookcases. Ray Paul is on display in the hallways. Nicole Abbett photo prints line the walls of the restaurant. Art at The Barrymore Hotel even attracts an international audience.
Located on the Tampa Riverwalk, the Barrymore Hotel is only about half a mile from the newly-renovated Heights Public Market. The 22,000-square foot industrial market with an open floor plan and communal seating showcases top chefs and restaurateurs in the Tampa area. Hungry visitors can sample anything from specialty espresso and cold pressed juice, to farm-fresh burgers or plant-based vittles. It's two floors of foodie heaven!
