Table Asheville was started by a husband and wife team. The small, minimalist dining room makes it clear that there's one focus here: the food. Table Asheville is known for innovative menu items that help set trends in the Asheville dining community. Even chefs from other restaurants come to Table Asheville just to see what new creations the kitchen is coming up with next. Head chef and co-owner Jacob Sessoms has been dubbed the "grandfather of creative cooking in Asheville."
To get you started, try the oysters or the seafood boudin with black lentils and white sweet potatoes. If you're vegetarian, go for the split pea fritters with pumpkin curry and greens. For larger appetizers, sample the roasted bone marrow or the oxtail. Perhaps try the steak tartare, which is served with steak fries, greens, cashews, and egg. If seafood is your thing, try the red shrimp toast, complete with crab roe, cornbread, and celery. Why not add a salad? The local lettuce salad is accompanied by radishes and a special avocado dressing.
If you're vegetarian, try the ground pumpkin and shell beans, which come with casetica, pecorino, and bitter greens. Beef options include a NY strip steak, bone-in ribeye, and a short rib burger that comes with brioche, buffalo cheese, and mustard jus. If you're in the mood for seafood, try the Mediterranean-inspired triggerfish with caviar lentils, rainbow chart, tahini, and yogurt. Alternatively, go for the saffron crab and rockfish, which comes with winter squash and cherry tomato.
