The small Croatian island of Vis has scenery that seems to be straight out of a love story. Interestingly enough, it was recently the backdrop for the popular movie sequel Mamma Mia 2. Most travelers visit Vis on an organized boat tour from Split. The journey takes about an hour by speed boat or two hours by ferry. The distance keeps the number of visiting tourists at a minimum and the beaches quiet. Stiniva Beach is the most popular beach on the island. One of the reasons it stays so serene is that it is only accessible by foot or by boat. There are no roads that take you to the hidden beach. In the summer, there is a small bar where you can purchase refreshments to enjoy along the shore. Locals advise enjoying the beach in the morning and early afternoon when the cove receives plenty of sunlight.
