There is a pretty good chance that you would not think of a cemetery as a tourist attraction, but that is not the case in New Orleans! Perhaps the most famous cemetery in the city is the St. Louis Cemetery No. 1.
The cemeteries here are likely not the type that you are used to seeing. Due to the fact that New Orleans is below sea level, graves cannot be put into the ground. Everyone is buried in mausoleums or crypts in the city. This particular cemetery is the final resting place of voodoo queen Marie Laveau and other historical figures. If you are looking for a place to take a haunted tour, the cemeteries often have them and have great reviews!
