The founder of Sideswipe Brewing, Craig O’Herron, honed his brewing chops while living in Asia and teaching English. When he returned home to Ohio, he figured it was time to give it a try for real, and the idea for Sideswipe brewing was born. After multiple years of planning and honing his skills, Sideswipe Brewing opened in October 2013 and was quickly lauded by the local brewing community. Since then, Sideswipe has grown substantially without losing sight of its original playfulness and spirit.
The taproom at Sideswipe Brewing is the classic craft beer experience: a casual non-stuffy oasis in the middle of a quiet industrial space that seems isolated, but is actually in the heart of the Columbus brewing industry. Sideswipe Brewing is a relaxed nonjudgemental place where you can meet friends, make new ones, or quietly sit by yourself and enjoy a cold one. At Sideswipe, taps are constantly changing, and the portfolio of beers just keeps getting more diverse and impressive. To create the perfect taproom experience, Sideswipe Brewing is also decked out with darts, pinball, foosball and a large selection of board games. So there is no opportunity for boredom while you try some of the most dynamic sours being made today.
Unlike many contemporary breweries that also do food, Sideswipe keeps its mission uncluttered, focusing only on the beer. Since there is no kitchen at the taproom, patrons can bring their own food or have it delivered to Sideswipe. Being able to pair your food at a brewery is a rare opportunity and offers an immense amount of options for matching food and sours. Sideswipe Brewing is a unique and dynamic voice on the craft brewing scene and is growing in esteem by the day.
