Every Saturday tour begins at Labriola, for one of the best deep-dish pizzas in town. Guests will learn about the history of deep-dish, and will also go back in the kitchens to learn more about how it's made. Styles typically tasted on this tour include: deep, artisan, tavern-style and Detroit or NYC slice.
After tasting Chicago's best deep dish, we travel by luxury coach to three other stops, each offering a unique style of pizza. There's artisan at Pizzeria Bebu, for example:
Then we typically try a true tavern-style thin pie at the legendary Pat's.
Finally, either a NYC slice or a spot-on Detroit-style pie. Either way, you'll never leave one of our tours hungry.
Pizza City USA Tours are curated by 13-time James Beard Award-winning food reporter, Steve Dolinsky. Inspired by his book, "Pizza City USA: 101 Reasons Why Chicago is America's Greatest Pizza Town," each tour takes guests to at least four different styles of pizza in about three hours. Pizza lovers will go back in the kitchens to learn more about how the pizzas are made, and in some cases, meet the owners.
