The beauty of Sanibel Island is that it offers a tropical island escape without the need to board a flight. This tiny Florida island offers fifteen miles of sugary white beach sand and a serene place to recover from all the wedding stress and craziness. Sanibel Island is known for being one the best beaches in the world for shell collecting, but did you know that it's also one of the best destinations for turtle nesting? This is when sea turtles come to shore to lay their eggs in a nest they have built along the beach. Couples who love wildlife can enjoy turtle nesting season which runs from May through October. The best stretch of beach to witness this magic is from the Sanibel Lighthouse to Blind Pass where you will find most sea turtle nests. In addition to the amazing wildlife opportunities, couples can relax under swaying palms, enjoy fresh seafood, and catch some truly spectacular sunsets. There is an abundance of accommodation options ranging from cozy, beach cottages to luxurious beach resorts. Either way, Sanibel Island offers a laid-back island getaway with lots of time for romance.
