Welcome to Northwestern Settlement! Since its founding in 1891 during Chicago’s Settlement House movement, the Settlement has evolved into a West Town community mainstay.

Rowe Elementary opened on September 8, 2009

With support from Bain & Company, as well as the John Rowe Family and Exelon, the Settlement created a new contract grammar school campus based on intensive research and national best practices.

In 2016, Rowe's inaugural graduating class matriculated from 8th grade into high-performing high schools across the city.

Rowe Elementary is a top ten charter school in Chicago, earning a Level 1+ school quality policy ranking from Chicago Public Schools - the highest ranking available.

Rowe exemplifies the Settlement’s dedication to education and college preparedness, from its classrooms named after universities, to its focus on partnering with parents and educators to provide a strong foundation for scholars’ success in school and life.

94% of Rowe scholars meet or exceed social-emotional growth goals
Our rallying cry is good to great! For seven years, the scholars, families, teachers, and staff at Rowe have worked incredibly hard to make Rowe a school we all can be proud of.  - Principal Tony Sutton
