A Pub with a Story

Built in a former knitting mill, the Rochester Mills Brewing Company builds on the history of the building it occupies and provides beer to create their own legacy. The building, the Western Knitting Mills, is a microcosm of the industrial history of Michigan. It has been home to numerous businesses creating different products, ranging from wool products, to gloves, to munitions for the United States military when duty called during World War Two, to the brewery that inhabits it today alongside other businesses such as an art studio and an insurance company. Not all of the history has been one of triumph as the building was destroyed in a fire but was rebuilt stronger than before. The Rochester Mills Brewing Company itself opened in 1998 and has been a fixture in Michigan’s famed Brewery scene ever since. Rather than cover up the history of the building, it maintains the ambiance of the Western Knitting Mills by featuring original hardwood floors and exposed bricks and beams, letting customers know how far this famed building has come and the history of the room they are in.

Rochester Mills Brewing Company offers a wide selection of beers; however, one of their most popular choices is the Imperial Milkshake Stout. This complex combination of malts and lactose creates a perfect pairing with a dessert such as chocolate cake or cheesecake. Rochester Mills Brewing Company also caters events as their way of giving back to the community, bringing their sense of history and community to events such as weddings.
