Rachel's Dowry Bed and Breakfast is a charming historic home turned boutique hotel located in a quiet neighborhood of downtown Baltimore. The former house has a long and fascinating history including being a safe house on the underground railroad as well as hosting George & Martha Washington in 1798. The house was renovated and the B & B was opened in 2010 quickly becoming one of the most unique and fun places to spend the night in Baltimore. Rachel's Dowry Bed and Breakfast contains six guest rooms that are designed to reflect the authentic architectural style of an 18th century Baltimore home. The old library is a great place to relax and turn back the clock, thumb through some old books or play a game of chess. At this bed and breakfast, the idea is not to be in a state of constant anxiety which is so common in the modern world. The old house and antique furnishings give patrons a sense of solitude and calm. Walking through the gardens here is a great way to spend the afternoon, true leisure time is heavily encouraged at Rachel's.
Rachel's is a true bed and breakfast. Everything is homemade and the breakfast here is served in a traditional dining room. Cookies, coffee, and tea are complimentary and the carrot cake pancakes that are often on the breakfast menu are outstanding. Anyone looking for an authentic Baltimore experience should consider spending a relaxing and renewing night at Rachel's Dowry Bed and Breakfast.
