“The Insider's Guide” Of Where To Go And What To Do In Chicago
Named one of the best bistros in Chicago by CBS, PR Italian Bistro brings an experience of affordable Italian fine dining to the city. Born as Pizza Rustica (that's what the PR stands for!) from the mind of Chef Stefano Roman, who came to Chicago from Venice, the restaurant expanded into serving many types of delicacies from his home country with some small, creative twists. You can see the dishes he comes up with on his blackboard menu he writes on every day.
Inside, the atmosphere is rustic, warm, and has that traditional Italian restaurant vibe. Their menu offers options you would expect and are craving. You can start off with some shareables. like fresh focaccia, and then pick from a variety of pasta from different regions of Italy, or even meat and fish based entrees. If you’re not sure about what to get, there’s always the safe bet: PR’s pizzas are what they started off with and they never disappoint, whether you pick one of their red or white ones. The Italian bistro also has a full bar, which is run by Chef Stefano's wife, Juliana Montebello-Roman, with international fine wines, beers, and award-winning cocktails. Come during the week between 5 and 6 PM for their happy hour, which features $5 wines and cocktails.
The restaurant is open every day for dinner time until 10 PM, but on the weekends, they offer their brunch menu with special plates, like polentas, and drinks, like bottomless mimosas. The restaurant also offers delivery service if you would rather eat at home. PR is a walk-in kind of restaurant but do accept reservations for selected holidays. During the warmer months, you can eat in their outdoor patio but even on colder weather days, it is open with a fire pit to keep you warm.
