In addition to being Atlanta’s largest green space, Piedmont Park has been included in feature films. The park was one of the backdrops for "What to Expect When You’re Expecting" when the dad group walks their kids around. It was also used in Anchorman 2, which reunites director Adam McKay and the movie's original cast, including Will Ferrell, after nine years. The news team was up to their normal antics throughout Atlanta, and at one point in the movie, Ron takes a walk through Piedmont Park with his son.
When it's not being used by film crews, Piedmont Park is still bustling with activity. The park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts with its swimming pool, sports fields, bike paths, trails, playgrounds, and recreation fields. There are plenty of places to run or walk on one of their trails, and Piedmont Park is home to various organized runs throughout the year. After breaking a sweat, visitors can enjoy a juice at Nectar by the park's pool or a special brew at Blue Donkey Coffee, located near the bocce courts. At the park's southeast corner, the Park Tavern serves sushi and burgers on their outdoor patio which is great for people-watching.
Covering 200+ acres in the heart of Atlanta, the park has several unique attractions, such as the honey bee exhibit and butterfly haven. It also hosts countless festivals like the Atlanta Dogwood Festival, Atlanta Jazz Festival, and Piedmont Park Arts Festival. The Green Market season starts in early March offering fresh local food, handmade goodies, chef demonstrations, and live music.
