“The Insider's Guide” Of Where To Go And What To Do In Chicago

The Original Rainbow Cone is a traditional cone and shop but their scoops are anything but traditional. Each cone will definitely stand out on your Instagram feed.

The rainbow cone consists of five flavors: Orange Sherbet, Pistachio, Palmer house(Vanilla with walnuts and cherries), Strawberry, and chocolate. The shop was started by Joseph Sapp, who was a lover of ice cream from a young age. He wanted to create an ice cream order that went further than just chocolate and vanilla, and so birthed The Original Rainbow Cone. Since its opening in 1926, the popular parlor has gone through many changes to keep up with the changing times. They now have cakes, take- home containers, and a large social media following.

They have flavors that span past the iconic cone for those that don't have an affinity for the classic tastes but are just as exciting. They also serve malts, shakes, and banana splits. Originally a seasonal shop, The Original Rainbow Cone has such a large current following that they are now open during winter but Friday-Sunday only.
