“The Insider's Guide” Of Where To Go And What To Do In Chicago
Love is in the air at this little monument site that commemorates where Michelle and Barack shared their first kiss.
What is now a green space with flowers used to be a Baskin-Robbins in the summer of 1989. It was also the site of the Obamas first date and the first kiss that followed. The plaque is attached to a 3,000-pound boulder that is virtually unmovable even with the Chicago winds. The couple shared ice cream on the curb outside of the ice cream shop. The monument was created in 2012 by a shopping center nearby. The rock has brought tourists to the area and speculation of future marriage proposals at the spot seems evident.
Whether you’re single or taken, this is a unique view into the history of the Obamas in their early days.
