“The Insider's Guide” Of Where To Go And What To Do In Chicago

The dark green storefront with a large window and the name of the establishment in a medium sized font gives off the comfy vibes of the bookstore. Myopic has three floors of lovely chosen used books right in the heart of Wicker Park.

Its labyrinthine stacks are a great place to spend an afternoon. If you need help finding your way around the place or need a recommendation, the staff on hand is always immensely helpful. Standouts include its excellent fiction section, the basement collection of sci-fi books, and a great Chicago history section. They love rare books here and will not hesitate to show you their coveted featured books of the week. With every table of books carefully curated, book lovers can be assured that they are in a safe place. Known as Chicago’s “Best Bookstore” and boasting 700,000 books, Myopic is popular but never too crowded to catch a seat on a couch. On Monday nights, they have free live music that tends toward the more experimental side and regular poetry readings too. Myopic poetry events regularly feature renowned, award-winning writers.

Be warned: they have a no cell phone policy and they don't have a restroom. This is a great place to go to meet other book lovers and find out about the newest literary hits. Authors and writers frequently stop by for signings, readings, and much more, so check out their website to see the next time your favorite author rolls through.
