The History Behind the Board

The game board was initially displayed at the 1992 San Francisco Garden & Landscape Show but later moved to San Jose, where it was permanently installed near the Children’s Discovery Museum in 2002. It opened to great fanfare and extensive media coverage on July 26th.

Reservations Required

The granite board, with jumbo dice and built-to-scale houses and hotels, can be reserved for up to three hours at a time. With your reservation, you can choose a custom-built token, and you even get a striped prison uniform to wear if you end up in jail. Two volunteer referees and a banker from the not-for-profit community organization Friends of San Jose keep everyone honest and answer any questions you might have about the rules. Reservations must be made at least 30 days in advance through the online booking system and paid via PayPal.
