Located in Shockoe bottom just a block from the James River, Millie's is your average diner at first sight. It's a small restaurant with a patio and bar.

On second sight, it's got a strange voodoo longboard for a signpost, and some dog spoons and other oddities making up its decor.

Located beside Poe's Pub and down the street from Libby Hill Park, it's a mere 3 blocks from St. John's Church, where Patrick Henry gave his famous "Give me liberty or give me death" speech.

But the real magic happens when your dinner is served.

Only then do you realize this diner is dishing out the sort of meals you'd find at a 5-star restaurant, complete with an artistic flare.

It opened its doors in 1989, and is consistently voted the best brunch in Richmond (specialties include the soft scrambled eggs & lobster, or the gigantic spicy crab and egg enchilada).

Don't be intimidated by the line out the door - the line moves fast.

But beware: Millie's is closed on Mondays.
