Midtown Cafe has been a favorite among native Nashvillians for decades and was selected as a Top 50 Best Southern Restaurants in the USA in 2018 by a major customer review app. Located off of West End Avenue near Music-Row and Vanderbilt University, Midtown’s modern Southern cuisine is upscale yet approachable. The lunch menu provides a decadent selection at an affordable price point, making it a great spot for business lunches or friendly brunches. At night, the warm lighting and extensive wine selection position Midtown as a natural choice for a romantic dinner. Their shuttle service makes it easy for travelers to move between midtown and downtown.
Midtown Cafe was founded in 1987 and prides itself on providing truly exceptional customer service. Many of the managers and staff have continued to work at Midtown well beyond the tenure of most restaurant employees because of owner Randy Rayburn’s commitment to creating an environment that keeps genuine hospitality front and center. As such, the cafe feels intimate and inviting, and guests often leave remembering their positive interactions with the waitstaff as much as they remember their meals.
Learn more about Midtown Cafe from owner Randy Rayburn:
Midtown Cafe opens for breakfast at 7 am where popular menu items include challah French toast topped with a Jack Daniels peach compote and whipped cream and Nashville pigs-in-a-blanket, which are dry-rubbed pork tenderloin with two eggs folded into fluffy biscuits and topped with country sausage gravy. Plenty of lighter options are available, and while the lunch menu becomes available at 11 am, breakfast continues to be served until 2:30, making Midtown a perfect spot for a late brunch.
Lunch and dinner are where Midtown Cafe shines. An abundance of soups and salads make choosing hard, but the lemon artichoke soup is not to be missed. For those looking for a heftier meal, lobster mac-and-cheese or coca-cola beef short ribs hit the spot. Dinner service begins at 4:30 pm. Diners rave about the veal three-ways, a sampling of veal saltimbocca, piccata, and oscar-style. The Tennessee rainbow trout served with a crawfish cream sauce is also a crowd favorite, as is the side dish, mushroom risotto. Midtown has over 150 wines by the bottle and 40 by the glass.
Midtown Cafe recommends making reservations, especially for dinner. Parking can be tough, but valet service is available and space can be rented for private events.
