M.I.A or Miami Inspired Ales is one of the most celebrated and inventive breweries in Florida. Miami is a melting pot and the crew here do their best to create concoctions that are representative of how diverse and vibrant the city really is. Check out this video of Mike and Claudio breaking down what M.I.A is all about...
Most of the breweries in Miami are popping up in Wynwood, M.I.A. bucked that trend by opening up in the industrial Doral neighborhood. M.I.A is housed in an industrial building with chic lounge-style seating complete with a massive draft board. The drafts are on constant rotation, so nestle up to the bar and ask one of the expert brewers to find you the perfect brew. The flagship beer which is the most popular is perfectly named Miami Wiess. The Miami Wiess is a traditional German-style hefeweizen, brewed with sweet orange peel as well as wheat barley and is a perfect balance of light tart and sweet. Another local favorite and evergreen tap is the Tourist Trappe. The Tourist Trappe is a classic Belgian style Tripel brewed with blond malts and a dash of candy sugar. It is sweet but packs a serious punch at 10% ABV. The secret is in the Belgian Abbey yeast strain that conveys a fruity flavor to cut through the sweetness.
The taproom also has a full kitchen serving up great food to accompany the beer. The bruhaus burger and the giant pretzels seem to go especially well with many of the easy-drinking ales on tap at M.I.A. On Saturdays between 1-6 PM tours of the brewery are $5 dollars and come with a full pint of your choice. With so many beer options popping up around the city and it can be hard to pick one, but no brewery is better at representing Miami Swag than M.I.A.
