“The Insider's Guide” Of Where To Go And What To Do In Chicago

Armed with a knowledgeable staff, inexpensive, quality vegan fare, and a cozy interior, Loving Heart is a great spot to grab an eco-friendly bite.

The restaurant opened in 2013 in an effort to help save the animals and the environment. The menu is 100% vegan, and they use about 80% organic ingredients. Offerings include soups, salads, burgers, and wraps. The burgers are made from black beans, vegetable protein, and chicken alternatives, and come with a house-made cashew “cheese” spread. Cakes and smoothies are also available, and they sell packaged sweets, such as cookies, at the counter. You can also order food to be delivered, as well as takeaway.

Their mission is to save the planet and all of its beings. However, Loving Heart is a bit more specific than just caring about animals. The restaurant subscribes to “positive and constructive programming” through Supreme Master Ching Hai, a figurehead for their beliefs and spirituality. Due to these beliefs, Supreme Master TV is playing in the cafe 24/7 and they sell books on the ideologies of the Supreme Master. Although this is not commonplace for businesses, they do not try to force their beliefs on their customers; they only provide them with tools to learn more, should they wish.

Loving Heart provides great vegan options, but is so much more than your typical vegan restaurant: it is a place to learn and to grow and to be yourself. It is open Monday-Saturday, 12 PM - 7 PM.
