La Reserve Bed & Breakfast

B&Bs can be hit or miss. Sometimes the staff is too attentive. Sometimes the breakfast is less than stellar. But what's consistent in all of them is that they are cute as heck. But La Reserve is not just cute: It's refined.

Named for a hotel in Geneva, Switzerland, La Reserve was once the owner's childhood home. Built before the Civil War, it has been home to all kinds of things over its history, including a doctor's office and a boarding house where one of the original Ziegfeld Follies dancers lived in the early 1900s. Poke your head inside with this quick video slideshow from Pamela Bowen.

La Reserve is also worth a visit because of all the fun add-ons. Want to surprise your partner on a romantic vacation? Stop by the tranquil lounge for a homemade cookie before you head up to your room, and take in a song from a (hopefully) talented guest trying their hand at the Steinway piano. Once you get into your room, surprise them with the champagne, and chocolate-covered strawberries that you knew were coming all along. We promise it'll make for a good weekend.

Oh, and P.S., there's hot breakfast on weekends.
