When it comes to ice cream, it's hard to beat Jeni's. The brainchild of a former art student and perfume enthusiast, Jeni's ice cream is admittedly expensive - pints sell for as much as $12 - but with flavors like darkest chocolate, salty caramel, and even frosé, it's eminently worth it.
Jeni's started in Columbus, and as a result, Ohio has more scoop shops than any other state. But that abundance doesn't make this location any less unique. Located at Columbus Commons, this is more than just an ice cream shop. According to Jeni's, this seasonal spot (it's open from April through September) is also a big part of, "Columbus’ ongoing urban renewal." Renewal indeed. Check out the frenzied video below to see just how much folks scream for this ice cream.
Columbus Commons is worth a visit with or without great ice cream. The former site of the City Center shopping area, this park boasts everything from stunning public gardens to a carousel and a state-of-the-art electronic playground. Bring the family for an outdoor concert on a hot summer night. You're sure to have a great time.
