Habib Etoch was a Lebanese immigrant who came to Helena in the 1880s and started Habib’s (pronounced Habby’s) Café and Delicatessen on Cherry Street. Business skyrocketed during the postwar years. To help expedite delivery, one year the U.S. Postal Service opened a temporary branch in the café’s kitchen to meet the high demand for the fruit cake.
