Hi! I'm Claire an avid traveler and Digital Nomad. At 34 I sold all my worldly possessions that wouldn’t fit into 3 boxes or in my backpack and hit the road.

Sadly you will no longer find a little Germany in New York City. But once upon a time on the Upper East Side, there was a large German population. If you know where to look you can still find traces of it. Take a watch of the video below to learn more about the history of the area.

Although most places have now gone you will still find one restaurant, which is, in fact, one of the oldest German restaurants in the whole of the USA still going strong.

Heidelberg on …. Street is a family run restaurant that has been serving New Yorkers with Bratwurst for over 100 years now. Here you can expect to get authentic old-world German food. If you are looking for an authentic and rustic German dining experience then this is where you will find it. Lederhosen optional, beer is compulsory!
