Frank Lloyd Wright Historic District

Located nine miles from Chicago, the Frank Lloyd Wright Historic District has the largest collection of buildings designed or inspired by the famous architect. Considered a virtual, living museum, visitors can see over 80 examples of Wright's architectural design known as Prairie-style. Twenty-five of these buildings were personally designed or remodeled by Frank Lloyd Wright, including his own home and studio. Daily tours are offered through the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust. However, visitors can explore the area for free on their own. Most people will incorporate Oak Park's other two Wright landmarks—the Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio and Unity Temple—into their tour. The community takes great pride that one of the most internationally-recognized names in the world of design once called Oak Park home.
