The goal at First Choice is simple. Serve up top quality, southern-style barbecue. And they've been doing it ever since they opened in 1992. Here in the South, it's known that perfection takes time, so you can be sure that your barbecue will spend at least a few hours on the open pit grill before it reaches your plate. The ribs cook for about 3 hours, but the rest of the menu takes up to 12 hours to soak up the smokey flavors and reach peak tenderness.
First Choice has been family-owned and operated since it opened. The focus is on friendly service and quality eats. The hole-in-the-wall location has an industrial look and may heat up with the meats cooking in Florida weather, but there are fans nearby and food-to-go options. It's truly the food that shines here. In addition to the meat that falls off the bone, you'll find sides made fresh every day. They pride themselves on never using frozen ingredients.
Keep an eye out and say "Hi" to the family if you see them. Many guests get to spot the owner, Roger, at a table eating his own meal there. And truly, what better review can you get than that?
