One of the most exciting things about a music venue to many fans is the roster of greats who got their start there. If that’s the kind of music fan you are, Exit/In has you covered. They’ve even listed many of them all over the walls both inside and outside of the club, just in case you want a roll call while you’re experiencing the nostalgia right there in person.
A mid-size venue, Exit/In is still small enough to be intimate but is much more spacious than most of the small venues in town. Country fans may not have as much of a buffet here to choose from in their genre, but perhaps knowing that Jimmy Buffet got his start here will make up for it.
The heavily rock and indie played venue is open and spacious, with much of it being standing room only. If you need or want a seat, be sure to get there early and snag a high top and a barstool on the balcony, or even a booth (though there’s no view of the stage from there). The stage is raised to a great height for optimal viewing, and though there’s no smoking inside, there is a small outside area where smokers are welcome. There are limited snack options available at the bar, but there are plenty of food options located just outside the doors. Get a taste of what it's like to be a part of the crowd. Bathrooms are small and a bit tough to maneuver, so keep that in mind if it’s a concern. “Exit” is in a great central location, just a short ride from downtown, and close to Vanderbilt University and Nashville gem Centennial Park. Parking is available for free on nearby streets if you’re lucky, or in several close paid lots. Be sure to bring proper ID, and if your license is a temporary one, you’ll have 20 days from when you got it if you’re a local, but it’s best to skip this club if you’re not—as they won’t accept other state’s paper ID’s.
