Esek Pray was active in local social and political circles. The house replaced an earlier log cabin destroyed by fire. Mr. Pray maintained a tavern in his home from the 1820's to the 1850's. After his death his son-in-law, Watson Geer, turned the property into one of the most prosperous farms in the township.
