Maine's First Ship is dedicated to building and operating a reconstruction of Virginia, the first English ship built in North America in 1607.
When the Popham Colony dissolved, Virginia returned to England. In company with Mary & John, Virginia completed her first Atlantic crossing, reaching Plymouth, England, in early December 1608. In May, 1609, Virginia joined a nine vessel resupply convoy headed for James Towne. She arrived mid-September, thus completing her second Atlantic crossing. She is documented as having served the Jamestown colony through June of 1610.
