EXIT SPACE PROJECT

Ellen Rutt, "Untitled," 2016

UICA EXIT SPACE PROJECT This design acts as a non-literal narrative, symbolic of a city itself - teeming with life, each color and shape plays an important role in the energetic and sometimes dissonant composition. Rutt does not seek to depict any particular scene but rather fully acknowledge that the subject matter of the painting includes the materials of expression. Drips, brush strokes, textures, and lines all become the characters of an abstract story - one of passion and play, and complexity and tension and all the things that make us human.
