Unexpectedly located in the middle of downtown Denver lie Elitch Gardens Theme Park and Island Kingdom, an interconnected water park. Whether you choose the rides and shows at Elitch Gardens or decide to stay cool by getting wet at Island Kingdom, both seasonal summer attractions will delight all ages.
The main street of the amusement park resembles a quaint, main street of small-town America, adorned with posters of movies being shown in the park. Daredevils can get their fill of dips, dives, and loop-the-loops on six different roller coasters and seven other heart-racing thrill rides. A dozen more family rides are suitable for all ages and adrenaline levels. Two water rides, a variety of shows and carnival games, and 13 pint-sized rides for little kiddos round out the attractions. And there is no lack of food and beverages along the way.
The Island Kingdom water park is immediately inside the theme park, and admission is included when you purchase your admission to Elitch Gardens. Nestled among living palm trees and private cabanas are 14 different water rides and attractions. These include the Commotion Ocean wave pool, Hook's Lagoon five-story, interactive water play structure, and the Castaway Creek lazy river. For thrill seekers, the water park also offers a giant bowl tube ride and a “Mega Wedgie” body speed slide.
The season runs from May to October. For the safety and enjoyment of guests, most of the rides have size and height restrictions. To enter after 6 p.m, you must be 18+ or accompanied by a guardian or responsible adult.
