For music lovers in Atlanta, heading just outside of town to Decatur is your best bet for great live music in an intimate yet popular venue. Eddie’s Attic features both aspiring and accomplished musical performers and songwriters.
When you come to Decatur and the Attic, you can imagine stepping into a cultural blend of Berkeley and Mayberry in an amazing listening room with superior sound and acoustic design. Silence your phones and take in the full impact of the music. On any given night, you’ll find talented performers playing their original music. They’ve had an impressive line up of artists over the years, including Cheryl Crow, Ani DiFranco, the Black Crowes, John Mayer, the Civil Wars, Sugarland, Eric Taylor, Pierce Pettis, India Arie, and many others you’ve probably heard of.
Eddie’s Attic is a community center for Decatur as a city and for the performing artists of metro Atlanta. The staff love both the artists and the customers that come through the doors each night, which is a part of why the Attic has earned a number of accolades over the years, such as Best Acoustic Music Venue, Best Place to Hear Live Music, Best Acoustic Music Club, and Best Open Mic Night. Every Monday night, Eddie's Attic hosts an open mic night for both aspiring and accomplished singer/songwriters of all levels. You'll find local and national acts, with each performer given ten minutes to take the stage and make it their own. The acts all perform two original songs as a part of the competition, and three finalists are chosen to perform one more song. Ultimately, the judges select a winner based on the songwriting, vocal and playing ability, audience response, and stage presence.
The Attic offers great drinks and eats while you listen. Some favorites include Rueben Eggrolls, Nachos with Guacamole, Black Bean Burgers, Beignets, the Attic Old Fashioned Cocktail, and the Pretoria Fields Walker Station Stout.
