Galena Main Street

Considered the small-town version of Chicago's famous Magnificant Mile, this half-mile strip is considered one of America's Greatest Main Streets. With over 125 shops, restaurants, and boutiques to explore, many visitors come to Galena just for the unique shopping experience alone.

Shoppers and tourists love exploring Galena's historic Main Street. This is because it's lined with "mom and pop shops" selling cool and unusual items that can't be found anywhere else. Poopsie's is one of the most beloved shops in town. For over 25 years this fun, funky shop has been selling novelty items like games, books, toys, one-of-a-kind jewelry and art, home goods, and specialty gifts. The video below offers an insight as to why Poopsie's is now a Galena institution and one of the top attractions in town.

What to Expect

The majority of Galena's visitors may be surprised that Main Street has enough to keep them busy without the need to ever have to leave the strip. There are cafes, spas, restaurants, bakeries and sweet shops all within walking distance to one another. For those who are in search of a happy hour or some nightlife can take advantage of the local pubs, breweries, and even a wine bar. All of this fun is set along a picturesque street with many establishments still housed in buildings originally constructed in the 1800s. It's no surprise that this street has been locally deemed as the "Helluva Half-Mile in Galena."
