Since they first opened the doors in 1964, the Demeris family has been serving delicious traditional Texas barbecue. What they have created has become legendary, and still upholds the standard of being one of the best classic restaurants in the city.
Demeris Bar-B-Q is now run by the third generation of family members to be restauranteurs. It is a responsibility and an honor the family takes seriously. Everyone involved with the business has spent a lifetime in training with parents, aunts, uncles, siblings, and cousins. Honoring the family legacy is of the utmost importance to the Demeris clan, and the results of their dedication are deliciously evident on every plate they serve.
The BBQ served at Demeris is classic Texas fare, which is to say overcomplicated sauces or preparations do not ruin it. In Texas, using excellent quality meat and old school traditional cooking methods is the name of the game. Demeris has all of the traditional BBQ staples from brisket, to pulled pork, sausage to baby back ribs. They also have one of the best burgers in the city, and devotees of Demeris swear up and down there is not a single mediocre thing on the whole menu. Being a classic can be a tough load to bear; often second generations don't want to shoulder the burden their parents carried in running a restaurant. It is not a problem at Demeris BBQ where multiple generations work together to make sure Demeris' future is as bright as its past.
